This small courtyard created a relaxed space as an extension of the internal living room. It used careful planning to maximise usable space while maintaining green areas to provide shade, textures and beauty. Vertical surfaces gave the entire area a new and completely different look. The judges applauded the use of hard and soft elements and said the design was simple, but effective and fulfilled the brief well.

This newly renovated home in Manly Vale had a complete overhaul. The front garden was redesigned to create interest and improve the street presence, delivering a coastal feel. In the rear, an existing deck was replaced with natural stone. A new barbecue, daybed and awning created a great entertaining space, along with the pool. The judges said from the design to the installation, it was a well-balanced, unique, bold, high-end project.

This garden surrounds an award-winning Peter Stutchbury-designed home in Palm Beach. Originally designed by Stutchbury & Pape Landscape Architecture, the garden was refreshed to enhance the sense of place, and ensure an environmentally sensitive approach, while preserving the ocean views. The judges called it a “beautifully executed and maintained planting design that worked with the existing features”. The carefully selected planting complements the architecture as well as the landscape.
