Severe water restrictions for businesses in Greater Sydney will start on 10 December 2019
27th November 2019
by The Landscape Association
Level 2 water restrictions will apply from 10 December 2019.
The restrictions apply to everyone in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra. This includes all residents and businesses.
The biggest changes
Fines of $550 apply to businesses for not following water restrictions.
You must have a Level 2 water exemption permit if you use water outdoors and can’t comply with the restrictions. There are some indoor water uses that are subject to restrictions.
If your business relies on using water and you can’t follow the restrictions to continue your operations, you need an exemption permit for each different site.
If you already have a permit for level 1 restrictions, Sydney Water will contact you by mid December to let you know if they’ll be sending a new exemption permit and stickers automatically, if your conditions change or if you need to re-apply. In the meantime, you can continue using water under the conditions of your level 1 permit.
Businesses need to apply for a Level 2 water exemption permit by the 31 January 2020.
If you don’t have a current exemption permit, you’ll need to Apply for a water restrictions exemption for your business. Please read the restrictions and exclusions carefully before applying.
