A reminder that it is a legal requirement in NSW that, if the cost of labour and materials for the work is more than $5K, a written contract is used between the parties. Contracts are not just legal requirements but they will protect you if anything goes wrong.
Purpose written contracts have been drawn up by TLA for exclusive use by our Members if desired. Members can find these contracts in our Resources Section in the members dashboard on the TLA website.
For works over 20K
For works under 20K
The Consumer Building Guide is a mandatory fact sheet that must be given to all consumers before entering into a contract for residential building work costing more than $5,000. This guide helps to protect the rights of both parties, outlines responsibilities and supports the building project. To download this guide click here.
The TLA is also currently working on developing a standard contract for our ACT members to use as well as a contract regarding landscape design. Stay tuned for further information.
