Expressions of Interest – TLA Complaints and Mediation Committee
1st March 2021
by The Landscape Association
TLA is calling for expressions of interest from members who would like to join our newly formed Complaints and Mediation Committee.
Sometimes problems occur with a landscaping project. TLA Members can access our free initial dispute resolution service if a dispute occurs with a consumer, designer or contractor over a building issue. This service is available for both NSW and ACT Members.
As with Fair Trading complaints, TLA responds to building complaints only, where the Contractor and/or consumer have indicated possible defective workmanship or materials. Where a contractor and consumer are unable to resolve their dispute, TLA will attempt to mediate an outcome that is suitable to all parties concerned.
Committee members are industry experts, trained, qualified and highly experienced, but are not expected to be registered mediators. Committee members are able to assess the quality of workmanship and offer expert opinion only, we do not offer legal advice. Disputes arising around issues of payment, intellectual property or other legal matters will need to be handled via standard legal channels and will not be addressed by the Committee.
The Disputes Committee shall consist of at least 4 industry experts, with at least 2 Committee members being TLA members with one member residing in the ACT area.
Each Committee member must have a Certificate III in Landscape Construction, hold a Structural Landscaping (NSW only) or Builders (NSW only) License and have at least 10 years’ experience in the landscaping industry.
Becoming involved in a TLA Committee is a great way to give back to your industry and provide you with exposure to TLA activities. To nominate for the Committee or to find out more information please contact Kimberley Aquilina, Operations Manager on 9630 4844 or kim@landscapeassociation.com.au
