Water Usage Exemptions – How this affects your business

by The Landscape Association
Level 2 water restrictions are well underway. The Landscape Association is aware that some members who have applied to Sydney Water for water usage exemptions have not yet had a response. We have been in contact with Sydney Water today and have been advised of the following:
Sydney Water has a significant backlog of exemption applications submitted since Level 2 Restrictions were announced. Due to Backlog delays, businesses can rely on existing Level 1 exemptions until they either receive an updated exemption or they are contacted by Sydney Water with advice that their conditions have changed under Level 2 rules.
Please note:
Under Level 2 rules you, as contractors and service providers are bound by the water use rules applicable to the site that you are working on. You do not have an overarching level of approval to use water which applies to any and all sites you may be working on. For example, use of standard sprinklers for watering lawns or gardens is not permitted, irrespective of whether the watering is done by the property owner or you as a service provider. Similar rules apply to cleaning of hard surfaces – cleaning because the surface is dirty is not allowed, even where there might be an existing service contract that has this as a requirement.
Please be aware of these restrictions as fines can apply for misuse of water. To apply for exemptions, click here.
